With the recent events in Baltimore, following the death of Freddie Gray - a young, black man who died of a spinal cord injury while in police custody - yet again, America is forced to examine its long standing issues with race that it so often tries to sweep under the rug.
But what makes this time different? Francisco L. White. The activist and blogger, White, wants to broaden the conversation. That's why he's initiating a town hall meeting: #TheFireThisTime. The name is a clever inclusion of the protests that took place in Baltimore last week and a homage to James Baldwin.
The town hall will focus on #BlackLivesMatter, but from the often forgotten perspective of the Black LGBTQ community.
If you're interested in joining the town hall, go to Twitter every Thursday at 7pm (EST) and share your thoughts. Don't forget to use the hashtag #TheFireThisTime.
